- am using Audacity 3.7.4* and Windows 11. I can’t get any sound input into Audacity. I had just used Audacity to record music from reel to reel tapes, and had removed the tape player & replaced it with a turntable.
- I had lost all my settings, as I think there may have been an update to Audacity. After pulling out all my hair, I decided to hook up the tape player again to see if I could regain the proper settings.
- No combinations of settings will give me anything other than a flat line during record.
- I am using Creative SoundBlaster SB0270 as an analog to digital converter. This worked fine while recording the tapes.
I assume you have a line-level signal… A phono preamp somewhere in the chain?
Make sure to select the Soundblaster and line-in as your Recording Device. (Don’t select anything that says “loopback”). If the connections are color-coded the line input should be blue (the same connection as the tape machine).
Audacity’s recording volume slider is now “hidden” under the recording meters so make sure it’s turned-up.
Check your Windows Permissions/Privacy Settings for the Soundblaster.
You can also try Listen To This Device to make sure Windows is getting a signal. (Audacity get the sound data from the operating system.)
Thanks! It was the enhancements. Working perfectly
