No Input From Rega Fono Mini A2D [SOLVED]

Good Evening

I am a first time user of Audacity 2.3.0 . I am attempting to convert my vinyl records to mp3 files using a Pioneer PL-30 turntable through a Rega Fono Mini A2D phono pre-amplifier connected to my MacBook Air using a USB A-B cable. I have set up the Sound Inputs as per the suggested set-up as a USB Audio CODEC at 2 Channel Stereo recording and I am getting an input signal in my Apple Sound Preferences but not in Audacity. I get nothing when I begin monitoring. I have gone through the Audio MIDI Setup and set the USB Audio CODEC (2in/0out) to 44100 Hz and 2ch 16 bit integer and the Quality also to 16 Bit Default Sample format. The microphone icon is appearing against USB Audio CODEC (2in 0out).

My MacBook is running macOS Mojave 10.14.3 It has a 1.3 GHz processor and 4GB memory.

I have run out of ideas. Can anybody please suggest whether what I am trying to is in fact possible and if so what I need to do.

Many thanks.

Having read Steve’s post on Apple’s privacy settings I have now ticked Audacity and have now successfully uploaded my first mp3 to my iTunes playlist. One of many to come. Very pleased with the quality and tonality of the result.
