No Export option on File menu

Greetings,

First day using Audacity. Trying to do some simple sound editing. Did a search on the forums and FAQ but couldn’t find an answer to my problem.

I combined two files into one using the instructions in the FAQ under “Adaucity FAQ-Editing How do I combine two files into one longer file?”

I’m now trying to export the file to a wave format. When I click on the File menu, the only options are “Recent Files, Import and Exit”. I can’t figure out how to Export. Since the export and save options don’t appear, I Exited, and then saved it as an Audacity project. I can re-open the project, everything works fine. I just can’t Export it.

Any ideas?

One quick common problem. A lot of the tools and services drop dead when you’re in Pause instead of Stop.

Click just above the MUTE button to select the whole timeline?

Which Audacity version are you using?

Thanks. That was it.

I had noticed that the menu options were there sometimes and not there other times, but couldn’t figure out why. I tried clicking around a lot to no avail.
