Newbie David here. I want to record streaming music but when I set up A2.3.2 There is no sound going to the recorder. I can hear the sound thru my
speakers but sound not hitting recorder. I have an external DAC attached via USB and then my speakers attached to the DAC. I have to do this because
my speaker outputs and headphone outputs on W10 DT computer have alot of static, pops & clicks when directly attached to speakers or headphones. With DAC it is perfect sound! - Thanks for any suggestions in advance - David N.
Select WASAPI as your Audio Host. Then select your USB device with “(loopback)” As your Recording Device.
See Tutorial - Recording Computer Playback on Windows if you have trouble.
I have to do this because my speaker outputs and headphone outputs on W10 DT computer have alot of static, pops & clicks when directly attached to speakers or headphones.
With WASAPI (loopback) and your regular speakers you probably won’t have the noise in the recording, even if you hear it while recording.
That worked perfectly and the sound is great, now 1 more question if you can help me! I want to start Audacity recording before I start the music playing on the internet. When I start Audacity recording without any sound going to it, it does nothing, it doesn’t start recording until I press on Amazon play button! Any Suggestions, if not you have been a great help and I do appreciate it! I’m 71 years old and Audacity overwhelms me - Thanks DN
Audacity recording before I start the music playing on the internet.
You may be stuck there. Audacity won’t record until it sees a digital bitstream. You can solve that in editing. Once you get a recording, place the cursor at the beginning of the song and Generate > Silence. It will ask you how long you want it.

Thanks to all, this seems to be a good forum and I do appreciate all the kind help! David N.
You can mark this as problem solved (I’m not sure how to do that)
