newbie question- how can I export a mixed audio to a MP3 file?

Hi,

Sorry for the newbie question. Your input would be appreciated.

What I want to do is to use Audacity to
(1) Record a sax solo
(2) Combine the recorded sax solo with a accompaniment in MP3 file
(3) Generate a new MP3 file with both sax solo and the accompaniment to share with other people

Here is what I did
(1) File → Open to open the accompaniment MP3 file
(2) Tracks → Add New → Mono Track
(3) Click the Record button to start recording my sax solo. Meanwhile I can hear the accompaniment in earphone… good
(4) Click the Stop button to stop recording
(5) Click the Play button to play it. I can hear both accompaniment and sax solo in earphone. So far so good. But how to export the combined audio to a MP3 file so I can share it with other people?

By the way, I’m not sure if the steps I did are correct. Please let me know if I’m wrong.

Thanks & regards,
Lee

If you File > Export > Export as MP3, Audacity will automatically push all your tracks into one show.

But.

Audacity will play MP3 files but will not export an MP3 file without adding the LAME software.
