Can anyone descripe or map how the new limiter fields match the old ones? I’ve had a designated setting for a while for my podcast. I’m admittedly not audio savvy (again, just podcasting) but this now feels like an entirely different feature from what it was.
I am having the same question. The audiobook mastering macro no longer works, at least I get values very far from what the ACX check is looking for.
You can find the old limiter here: Dynamics Processing | Audacity Plugins (along with several others)
For the new one, the make-up target is what your peaks are going to be after the limiter is done (if sound passes the threshold at all). So for the “peaks cannot exceed -3dB” requirement, you can just put it on -3 dB. If the limiter doesn’t hit the threshold, lower the threshold until it does.
The limiter in 3.6 is radically different than the old limiter. The Audiobook mastering macro no longer gives good results, and everything afterward is too loud for the acx check. I do not see any updated macro, nor instructions for using the new limiter.
Help?!!?
3.6 changed the Limiter. Is there anyway to also use the old version? For the life of me I can’t figure out how to raise my RMS. In the old 3.5.1 version my Peak and noise floor passed ACX but the RMS failed… all i had to do was go to the limiter, increase the gain to the correct db and tell it to limit to -3.0. and it would raise my RMS to al me to pass ACX check. With the new version… I can’t find any way to do the same thing. Anyone know how to use this new version of the limiter??
In the new one you need to lower the threshold instead.
Thank you. That worked.
How about the ‘Audiobook Mastering Macro’? That no longer works for me.
