I just downloaded audacity 4 yesterday because I wanted to remake some st. anger songs. St. Anger by Metallica is notorious for having the worst snare drum sound. I am also using isolated tracks to pitch different tracks (pitching guitars on Frantic by 4 semi-notes so it sounds like its tuned in E standard). At first I tried pitching up drums but it still sounds like a trash can, then I played a bit with the equalizer and just couldn’t find the right snare sound. After that I downloaded a Metallica Black Album snare sample and tried to kinda overhear st. anger snare drum sound but then I realized I would be doing this for a long time if I did this. For these remakes, I want to keep the original recordings but I just wanna change the snare sound tone so it sounds like an actual snare drum instead of trash can.
