Need help accessing old .aup3 file!

Hi.

So I got a new computer in 2024 and I didn’t get to send myself an .mp3 version of this mix that I made but I have the .aup3 file. When I tried to open it in an older Audacity app it wasn’t showing anything on the track. I tried the DB Browser thing but it keeps saying it is locked and I am not too tech savvy to figure out the problem.

Is there any way to see if I could get another .mp3 file from the project or is all hope lost? I would really like to retrieve this mix as it was one of my old favorites.

Audacity officially switched to the .aup3 format with the release of version 3. What version of Audacity are you trying to read it with?

Audacity 3, which introduced .aup3, was released in 2021.

Most likely OP had not tried opening the .aup3 file in a new version of Audacity, instead trying an old version of Audacity that didn’t support the format yet.

The solution is probably to use a recent version of Audacity to open the .aup3 file.
