My Recording sounds Very Hollow and want to improve quality

Hi
I am very new to Audacity and tried to record something for a voice over on an advert. I have attached the clip. It sounds very hollow and tinny.

With audacity am I able to edit this to sound better. I want to put a sound clip in the background and then into a video.

If this is possible, please tell me what the problem is so I can research how to fix it.

Many thanks

I can’t listen right now (I’m at work).

What kind of microphone/hardware are you using?

…If you are using a “studio microphone” most of them are side-address and cardioid (directional). You have to talk/sing into the front side and if you talk into the back or into the end you can get a “hollow” sound.

…And scratch on the microphone grill with your fingernail to make sure you are recording from the external mic, not the mic built-into your laptop.

And make sure Windows “enhancements” are turned OFF.

Sounds like you are recording from the wrong microphone,
e.g. from the computer’s built-in mic rather than an external microphone.
