I have a Razer Kraken 1.7 Chroma headset and I am using its built in mic which is actually very high quality. The only problem is it does not actually activate until I speak. My question is, is there a way to disable the feature to have it on at all times, not only when I speak? That way I can successfully remove background noise.

so it was unchecked by default as you can see in red, could it be something to do with what is in blue?

That’s the activation setting value for Sound Activated Recording. If you don’t have it checked, it doesn’t do anything.
Do you have a recording with dead holes between words, or a recording where all the words are smashed together?
If all your natural gaps are just missing and the words are together, then I’m out. I’ve never heard of that.

The sophisticated engine also allows you to control surround and positional audio settings for each individual program, ensuring that you get the best possible experience whether you are playing a game, watching a movie or listening to music.
Have you had a look at the headset’s engine’s settings? According to the Razer website, it’s on a per-application base.
I’m always suspicious when it comes to 7.1 headsets and noise-cancelling stuff for serious audio work. Usually, it’s a lot more hassle to disable all these wonderful extra’s.
