mute buttons on tracks and mixer board disappear - Audacity portable

If I change the ‘view’ to make the tracks smaller the mute/solo buttons on each track disappear. But I cannot expand the tracks out again to show the buttons?

If I open the mixer board instead it will open but as soon as I go back to the tracks window the mixer board disappears and cannot be found when I minimise the tracks window?

Any help much appreciated!

Questions about the “Portable Apps” version of Audacity should be directed to the Portable Apps help channel: https://portableapps.com/support

On Windows, the official release version of Audacity may be used as a “portable” version. To do this:

  1. Download the “Audacity 2.2.2 zip file (11.42 MB)” via the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/
  2. Extract the contents of the ZIP file somewhere convenient.
  3. Open the extracted file. You should see the “audacity.exe” executable in the folder.
  4. Create a new folder in the same location as “audacity.exe” and name it “Portable Settings”.

You can now copy the entire folder to a portable device (such as a USB memory stick).
To launch Audacity, double click on the “audacity.exe” file.

I am the developer at PortableApps.com for our package of Audacity.
It uses the official release zip version as mentioned by steve: All we’re doing is saving the “Portable Settings” folder between launches, and updating paths as needed between launches. We don’t modify Audacity itself in any way.

With that said, I’m not able to reproduce the issue you’re describing, using either the official release zip or the PortableApps.com package. Try using the “Track Collapse” button to expand the Track Control panel, and Windows’ built-in window-switching keyboard shortcut Alt+Tab to access a window that is hidden by another.
