I am on Windows 11 and using latest up to date version of audacity. I have also installed Muse Hub App and and downloaded a few free plugins and have been using them for at least 6+ months. (I am a long term user of Audacity 30+ years) So please appreciate keeping out trivial/Facetious answers by all means. This is a serious issue - and not an user operation error on my part.
Everything was working fine until 2 days ago. Today I open my Project which uses one of the Muse Hub Effect Plugin - and I keep getting Authenticate or Buy a License. I have my Muse Hub App open , signed in and everything seems fine. I do not see any MENU for authenticate/authorize and get Audacity going.
I just cannot even open the project now. A serious SHOW stopper problem.
I sent a message to Muse Hub via CONTACT SUPPORT as well.
I did search the Forum for any related posts with search string “musehub authenticate” and some variations of it. Nothing shows up for me.
Hope Audacity Engineers or Advanced Users can publish their thoughts and tips for getting past this impasse.
Just a small remark - in case you do not already know it: the forum is not Muse’s support department, but a system where users (try to) help other users.
Since I am not using any services of MuseHub but just the Audacity application, I am unable to give you good advice here.
But: you should still be able to open your existing projects even without authenticating. If the non-authentication really is the reason that the project cannot be opened, I would try to open it on a different computer where a “non-MuseHub installation” of Audacity exists. Of course, you then would not be able to use the MuseHub services…
If the project can’t be opened at all, there may be also another problem than the non-authentication with MuseHub…
To be honest, I am clear about the relationship between Muse Hub and Audacity. 1) Whether the former owns the latter (assuming the latter is still open source). 2) Whether I need to download Audacity from Muse Hub site 3) and others…
So the reason I posted my issue both at Muse Hub and in Audacity forum.
Regarding Opening an Audacity Project which uses 1 or more Plugins… It continued to be a problem.
I logged into Muse Hub - assuming it will make a difference – though I still do not know how to authorize/authenticate the Plugins I had downloaded and use some of them.
I then Opened Audacity and Rescanned All the Plugins, noted down the errors - and ignored almost all of them as they were unrelated to Muse Hub. Closed Audacity.
Opened Audacity and was then able to Open the Project!!! I do not know how/why references to Plugins were lost. I guess we are moving more and more into Quantum Entropies !!!
Now I have a different annoying problem. Audacity gives me a list of projects and asks me to recover or discard. To be safe I asked to recover. It recovered them one by one - and there were at least 6-7.
Then I “close” each of them - after seeing that they were Empty.
When I come to the Last one, it closes and then pops open another Empty One!
I cannot break that loop at all.
I simply Quit Audacity.
Overall I feel there is still something that is lurking, as I see some other strange behaviors as well.
I have not figured out yet - just deferring them to the weekend.
I will post another update over the weekend, one way or other.
