Multiple imports doesn't work

I used to use this program a lot. I have started using it again but am having major problems.
If I only import one mp3 I can use 'Effects" and raise the volume and all is okay. But a multiple import looks okay as they are importing, but when it’s finished it seems to do something unusual. I can only hear static on all that was imported and it also sounds like it is playing two songs at once. It also seems to compress the mp3’s after the last import.
I have never had trouble with this before. I have imported over 100 mp3’s and they were all great.
Anyone have this problem or have any answers? I’d hate to do them one at a time. It would take numerous hours of my time.
I was told by someone to turn them into .wav files first, but had no luck with that.
Please help!

After your import do Tracks > Align Tracks > Align End to End. You may then wish to do Tracks > Mix > Mix and Render to get everything on one track.

Sorry, not really understanding what you’re saying.

It makes the tracks really scrunched, about an inch. But it does seem to work.
Thank you

It also puts a -2 at the end of the title. I guess I need to create a working directory to put the new files in. Shouldn’t add a -2 then.
Thanks again
