Multi-channel input, output and level meters in Audacity 3 and 4

Hi,

Is the following information correct with Audacity 3 and 4?

  • Multi-channel input:
    • macOS: Up to 16 channels. Recording 17 channels or more causes Audacity to crash.
    • Windows:
      • MME: Up to stereo only.
      • DirectSound: Usually up to stereo only.
      • WASAPI: Depends on hardware; can exceed stereo.
      • ASIO: Depends on hardware and driver. Recommended for reliable multi-channel recording, but must be installed separately due to licensing restrictions.
    • Linux: Depends on hardware and driver/audio server (ALSA, JACK, PulseAudio, etc.).
  • Multi-channel output: Up to stereo only.
  • Level meter for multi-channel input: May be limited or inaccurate. It often shows only stereo, or duplicates one channel, even when more channels are recorded.
  • Level meter for multi-channel output: Up to stereo only.

Thanks.
