I can’t seem to find the feature to Mix Stereo down to Mono in version 4. I have to say version 4 is a big leap from the previous versions I’ve grown accustomed to and used now for many years. So far I don’t care for V4!
A workaround: split to mono, then mix and render.
Why have workarounds in new versions?? Newer versions are supposed to be more streamlined instead of creating more steps to do the same thing. I believe I’ll stick with version 3.
Audacity 4 isn’t yet ready for general release. Apparently the developers are aware of this, but muse group don’t agree and told then to release 4.0. The developers are now trying to make the program complete and stable.
Mix and render is not available in Audacity 4.
My advice to everyone is to stick with version 3, but to play with version 4 and change over if and when version 4 meets your needs.
Or, if your system has stability issues with version 3, like mine does, stick with Tenacity.
Call me a pessimist, but the way things are going, I have my doubts that’s ever going to happen. But, I’ll keep banging my head against the wall… I mean playing with new versions as they come out.
