I just tried to open Auadacity and I have 2.0.2…been a while since I used it. The error says missing wxbase28u_vc_custom.dll. I don’t see the download in downloads but it looks like an EXE as I don’t see anything zip either.
Reinstall or going to 2.04 is not a problem IF it will not overwrite the files. I have only few files saved but one is VERY important and that is why I opened the program. Tell me the saved files should still be there and a reinstall to the new version is OK …please!! XP Pro SP3
Thanks!!
That file is in my Audacity folder (version 2.1.0).

A DLL is not an EXE program. A DLL doesn’t run by itself like an EXE fine. It’s “called” or “run” by an EXE file (or perhaps by another DLL). I wouldn’t expect to see it as a separate download. I’m sure comes “packaged” in the install file.

A new install shouldn’t touch your AUP files or any WAV or MP3 files, etc.
Thanks!! It worked and my files are there!! All I was seeing when I did a search of Audacity was the audacity.exe and a shortcut and both gave the error with nothing to reinstall in downloads. I may have removed the program I’m really not sure what happened but again all is well. Thanks again!!
Please be careful with Windows XP. Microsoft are no longer officially supporting it, so it will be unpatched or not fully patched against any new security vulnerabilities that appear.
Ensure you have a good third-party anti-virus application. Be aware though that this will not give you complete protection against a previously unknown attack.
For some extra protection you can install http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/jj653751 .
If it is not practicable for you to update to the much more secure Windows 7 or Windows 8, you can consider installing a Linux operating system instead. Most versions are free and all are very secure.
