I just tried using audacity 3.0.4 to convert a Midi File to another format, but when I try to play the midi back, I don’t hear anything. I’m on 10.15.7.
Is there any other way I can convert a MIDI file into a file that audacity can play back for me (if it can’t be played back as is)?
MIDI is machine control. It’s not music. Apply the MIDI “song” to a MIDI player and then use Audacity to record the music that the Player gives you. I think Macs have MIDI players built-in.
In Mac OS or Mac OS X, if you have QuickTime 2.0 or higher, you can use MoviePlayer or QuickTime Player to play MIDI files.
Audacity is not a very talented MIDI manager. Run away.
