Hello. I am running Windows 7 and installed from the .exe. I was wondering if it is possible to use an m-audio keystation 61es (a midi controller) on Audacity to record tracks. I am very new to all of this. Thank you.
Audacity doesn’t speak MIDI, but you can use Audacity to record the music from a MIDI device.
MIDI isn’t music, MIDI is machine control. A MIDI instruction says which key to press, how hard and how long. Whether or not it makes sound is irrelevant.
It’s probably not possible to run a MIDI software package and Audacity at the same time, so there’s the problem. I use MIDI on one computer to tell my large Yamaha keyboard what to do and then a second computer to record the music.
