I got a new mic Neumann 107 and now when I’m listening back to my recordings through Audacity the mic is constantly ON. I hear everything when I’m really only trying to listen and edit my recording. This didn’t happen with my previous mic, which was the Shure SM7db.
I’m not sure what to do about this problem.
Make sure Audible input monitoring is off, or your audio interface may have “direct monitoring” that you might have to switch off.
I have a feeling it’s the “direct monitoring” doing this. I’m gonna turn it off and re-try it again tonight. Thanks Doug. I’ll let you know. I appreciate your help. I’ve never seen Audible input monitoring area you spoke of.
Or… Check Windows Listen To This Device. With that you’d hear the mic even without Audacity running.
Also there is always some latency (delay) through the computer and usually it’s enough to be noticeable. If there is no delay, direct monitoring is likely the issue.
