in Linux Mint on my tower the micro recording level is blocked at 100%
I try different versions of Audacity, but the problem persist.
On my Linux Mint old portable it works well
I’m a Widows guy, but It could be the hardware or drivers, and USB is often locked at 100%.
With digital sources (USB) it really doesn’t matter because it’s the analog level coming into the ADC (analog-to-digital converter) that’s important, and even that’s not that critical unless the signal is too hot and clipping (distorting) the ADC.
You can always use the Amplify or Normalize effect to adjust the level after recording.
