Mic Not Working in Audacity

Hello,

I’ve used Audacity plenty of times and never had this issue, I am using a Scarlett Solo audio interface and when plugged into my PC, my PC recognizes the mic and when testing through the windows settings, the mic picks up sound. In Audacity, the mic is also recognized and selected, but when I try to record, it picks up no sound. I haven’t been able to find any help specifically for my issue so I’m not sure if I’m just missing some setting, but I haven’t had this issue on 3 different PCs so I’m not sure what’s going on with this PC.

Thanks

on the PC I’m trying to use, it’s Audacity 3.0.2, on my old PC it’s version 2.4.2

Are you sure that Audacity picks up NO sound, rather than the recording level being very low?
(Try applying the Amplify effect to the recorded track to see if there’s anything there).

When I try that, it’s just background fuzz with no distinguishable sound. Nothing also happens in the mic monitoring in Audacity, but in windows and on my audio interface itself, it does show it is registering sound.

In Audacity, the mic is also recognized and selected,

Just to be clear - You should select the Scarlett USB interface as your recording device, not the “microphone”.

Please ignore the other reply with a youtube link, I accidentally pasted that and idk how to delete it.

As DVDdoug says,

You should select the Scarlett USB interface as your recording device, not the “microphone”

Also, be sure to plug in the Scarlett prior to starting Audacity. Otherwise, Transport > Rescan Audio Devices.
