This is a bug in macOS 14.2. It is fixed in 14.3 onwards.

Why do you “hope it changes in 14.3”? macOS Sonoma 14.4 is out for a while now, you should surely update your Mac. I have no problem with 14.4, and also not for 12.7.4 (Monterey).
