I just downloaded Audacity onto my Windows 10 and am trying to access the Effects, however the majority of items in the menu are greyed out and I cannot select them. The Add/Remove Plugins option is also greyed out and cannot be selected. I have attached a screen shot of what it looks like. When I look under other menus like Edit, Generate, Analyze, Tools, the options are also greyed out.
How do I turn these options on?
Most of the effects require that you select the audio that you want to apply the effect to.
When some audio is selected, the effects will be available.

Hi, I selected the audio and it is still greyed out. I also read it has to be at least 5 seconds, which I tried but it did not work.
That’s not correct. The selection can be any length, but there must be an audio selection.
Can you post a screenshot of that. There’s clearly a problem, but I can’t think what it might be - it may be obvious if I can see what you are doing.
