…The “trick” is limiting which “pushes down” the peaks with very little effect on the average/RMS level. Noise can still be a problem and if you bring-up the RMS level you’ll also bring-up the noise. Regular linear volume adjustments change the Peak, RMS, and Noise Floor by the same dB amount.
