MBox2 Mini & Audacity

Hi there, I am using OS 10.9.5 and Audacity 2.0.5. (zip).

I can’t seem to get the two working together.
I can use the Mbox as the input and output source, but when I play back, all I hear is a radiostatic stutter.
What am I doing wrong?

Isn’t this the interface that’s “married” to ProTools and Avid?
Which Mbox?

Yes. Audacity has no official support for Mbox. It’s best to use ProTools.

If you must use Audacity, I suggest you go to the Avid site and make sure you have any applicable drivers that are necessary to use Mbox with software other than ProTools.

Then open /Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup. On both the Input and Output side, make the sample rate the same as Audacity project rate (bottom left of the Audacity window).

Set the Audacity Quality Preferences to 24-bit or 16-bit Default Sample Format then set the sample format in Audio MIDI Setup to the same bit depth (24-bit or 16-bit). Set the number of recording channels the same in Audacity and Audio MIDI Setup.

In the Audacity Recording Preferences, experiment with different “Audio to buffer” settings.
