I have a Sony PS-LX310BT turntable that has in internal pre-amp and stereo RCA phono connectors. I have purchased a phono-usb lead to connect to my MacBook Pro running macOS Monterey 12.7.6 and I have installed the latest Audacity download so I can digitise my recent records. I cannot get the MacBook to recognise the turntable. I have looked for youTube tutorials but none seem to address my particular problem. Can anybody help please?
System settings → Privacy and security → Microphone: grant access to Audacity.
Could you tell us a bit more about the photo to USB lead, please? As I understand it, the phono output is analogue and USB input is digital. Unless the lead has a built-in conversion device, I would not expect it to work. I could be wrong, of course.
An alternative would be something like the Behringer UCA202. Other people have recommended the UFO202 which is switchable between phono and line-level but they seem to be out of stock everywhere. Amazon is giving a delivery time of 6-7 months.
