M4A files do not open [SOLVED]

I am trying to import audio files from iTunes 12.1.2 into Audacity 2.1.0 on my Mac OS X 10.10.3. Looks easy enough. I’ve tried both by file-import and by dragging the files into the Audacity project window. I actually see them being imported, one at a time. But then nothing appears in the window, and if I click ‘play’ nothing happens. What am I doing wrong here?

If these are M4A/MP4 files it’s a bug in Audacity 2.1.0 unfortunately. You can fix it by installing FFmpeg. Please see this topic for download link and more explanation: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/audacity-2-1-0-ffmpeg-required-for-mp4-m4a-mov-alac-import/38209/1
