I have Windows 11 PC, newer Audacity version (WASAPI selected), and an M-Audio Solo interface. I have one audio track recorded but when I want to record a new track as an overdub Audacity won’t record on the new track I add. I click record but the previously recorded track won’t play nor will the new track record the input signal (keyboard plugged in using 1/4” jack into line-in channel of M-Audio interface. I can’t record new track with the following settings listed below. Do I have to plug in my 1/8” headphone jack into my computer jack to playback and monitor and overdub in audacity? Or is there a way to have the headphones be plugged into the M-Audio interface to record, playback sounds (to monitor) and overdub tracks??
Here are the hardware and sound device settings:
Audacity Recording channel setting: M-Audio USB 2.0 (m-Audio interface has a 1/4” cord plugged into channel 1 - trying to record using keyboard input)
Audacity Playback channel: M-Audio USB 2.0 with 1/8” headphone jack plugged into M-Audio (USB selected not line—in). M-Audio is connected to PC with US 2.0 cable from M-audio interface into PC.
Thanks for your comments and advice.
