Linux make FFmpeg work with Audacity

Audacity and FFmpeg come as packages in the Linux Mint 21.3 repository. I have both installed.

Most installation tutorials deal with Windows. I’m dealing with a computer and let others wash the windows.

Audacity 2.4.2. I did not find a version for FFmpeg. Audacity shows it on the library page.

I need some direction here, please.
Thank you.

Audacity 2.4.2 isn’t compatible with that version of FFmpeg. It only takes FFmpeg 2.2.2 (avformat 55). You have FFmpeg 5.0 or something like that installed (avformat 58, that’s what the F stands for)

You’ll either have to get a very old version of FFmpeg or, perhaps easier, a newer version of Audacity which supports multiple FFmpeg versions. You can download the latest version of Audacity as an appimage from Audacity ® | Downloads
