Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe won't install [SOLVED]

Hi Everyone,

I just got a new Dell laptop with Windows 10. It came with McAffee antivirus installed. I followed the instructions to install Audacity and Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe, which has worked on other laptops with previous versions of Windows. On this laptop, when I double-click on Lame, it says “This app can’t run on your PC. To find a version for your PC,check with the software publisher.”

How can I install Lame so I can export my recordings as mp3 files?

Thank you,

John

Yes, the instructions are correct. Windows produces that message. We can’t fix the problem for you, if you were following the instructions and downloaded the correct file.

The most likely explanation however is that you got a bad download. The correct file should be 515 kB in size. For example perhaps you right-clicked the link and “saved as”. This usually produces an invalid file due to security precautions on the site. Clear the download list or cache in your web browser or download manager and try downloading again by left-click.

You can always export from Audacity as WAV and use some other application such as TAudioConverter to convert to MP3.

Thank you, Gale! The first download must have gotten corrupted. I tried again, and it worked just fine. Thanks again!

Thanks for letting us know. I’ll mark the topic as [SOLVED] then and lock it.
