Lame.exe

Hi,

First of all I am not a techie though usually know enough to get by. I have downloaded Audacity 2.0.5 and this works fine, also downloaded lame.exe file but when I click on it, a config type screen flashes and that’s it. I can’t open lame, so any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Roy, You already acknowledged my reply on feedback@. The answer is the same.

To add MP3 support to Audacity, please see this page:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#lame .

That download includes LAME.exe, but you have to follow the instructions given. You can’t use LAME.exe by double-clicking on it.

Sorry Gale,

didn’t realise as just looking for some sort of help from wherever I can find it. I am not double clicking on the file, it just won’t open. I have even uninstalled it and re-installed it but it’s not happening… I am using windows 8 64 bit operating system, and have downloaded the latest version of Audacity…

As stated you need to follow: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#lame .

If Windows does not let you install Lame for Audacity, log in as administrator before installing, or right-click over “Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe” and choose “Run as administrator”, as you would when you install other programs.

When you have installed “Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe” do not open anything in the folder you installed LAME to. Simply use File > Export… in Audacity, and choose “MP3 Files”. Click “Save in:” at the top to choose the folder to export to. Type the file name you want for the MP3. Do not add dots (periods) into the file name. Click “Options…” bottom right to choose the MP3 quality. Then click “Save”.
