Just installed Audacity 3.6.1 64bit on win11 machine. Then installed Lame 3.99.3. Then tried to open mp4 file. Got error message “could not open, incorrect file type.”
Any suggestions? Is there something I need to do besides run the lame installer Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe
You need FFmpeg (not lame). Download and run FFmpeg_5.0.0_for_Audacity_on_Windows_x86_64.exe to install it, and you should be good-to-go.
…Lame is only for exporting (creating) MP3 and it’s now built-into Audacity so you don’t have to install it.
I mistyped. I had also installed ffmpeg, but an incorrect earlier version. Thanx much. All working fine now.
