Issue with Mackie input to audacity on MacBook Pro

Hello,
I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question, but any suggestion is appreciated.

I have a 2012 Macbook Pro 15 inch with single mic/headphone jack. I am trying to see if I can give sound input from a Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro mixer to this MacBook while using Audacity to record incoming music.

I am taking the Main Out from the Mackie mixer and give it as a mic input into a TRRS headphone/Mic splitter. I have a headphone connected to the other input of the TRRS splitter. This is the recommended way to give external mic input to MacBook.

Issue here is MacBook does not recognize the external mic input coming from the mixer. I am wondering if the output of Mackie mixer not compatible for direct input to my MacBook.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Jack the Mackie TAPE-OUT into a Behringer UCA-202 (RCA to RCA) and plug that into one of the Mac’s USB inputs. It will appear as USB Audio CODEC. Plug it in first and then start Audacity.
