Isn't the pitch change of music from 440 Hz to 432 Hz an infinite decimal of 1,8 instead of a fixed number of 1,818?

Hey guys! It’s Velorace again. After a ton of research, i’ve FINALLY managed to find a way to convert my recently downloaded music from Youtube and Spotify to 432 Hz music on Audacity. It took me a long while, and it was pretty, pretty much hard. I din’t expect to come out through so much outcomes. Anyway, I finally managed to do this, but after some research and some “lateral thinking”, I just realized something quite much not-un-expectingly…

I mean, when it comes to the fact of “translating music from 440 to 432 hz” I mean, the dude here on the forums (which I saw) he just said something like

“Dude if you want 432 Hz music just go in in Audacity, click “Change Pitch” on the music after selecting the “Track”, check 1,818 and ur done”

And I was like Wow great, it’s that easy? Amazing friend thanks!

Hell it was hard, the musics I selected wheren’t or wasn’t in the “Right” formal “type” to be selected or adapted to Spotify, so I Should (or shouldve), and had to CHANGE the FORMAT of the MUSIC to actually make it “allowable” in Audaacity, but… Hell, it was hard.

Anyway I did it ALL ALONE… and what happned is,

I… Just kept googling it, researching it…

And I found something pretty cringe, and strange.

One time I was just literally selecting pitch for my music 1,818 as my guy had told me to say "You want 432 do this. Do it. Do this. dON’T ASK." He said…

And I was like “OK OK, Maybe he is right…? I mean, he should be a Mod, a Moderator or something here on this forum… HE should be THE EXPERT on MUSIC and AUDIO FILES not me… So hey why not? Maybe he is speaking the truth? What Am I, who Am I to question that?”

Then I was doing that changing the pitch of the music but-

I was about to click “Done” when I was like

“Hey, some cool numbers here. That looks cool!”

“Ah, it’s not of my interest. What I can do with those things? These things are useless IDK even what they mean, B#4 B#3 A#C25678963 DUDE WHAT DO THOSE THINGS EVEN MEAN gaaaaah that/these things SO COMPLEX…”

Then I was like that for a moment and

“Dude”

“Your a Researcher”

“Your about to find every interesting thing in the Universe and on the Cosmos”

“Whatever you find that holds interest you not gonna miss, aint you?”

“Plus it doesn’t hurt to just click some buttons and-”

“Fiiiiiiiineeeee…”

“Figure out something interesting.”

“OkOkOK, LET ME CHECK THIS… See if I can find something usefull and…”

I mess, meddle with some buttons again…

Try to get info, intel… info, information on “what’s that”

Then suddenly just “something” comes to my mind and to my interest.

“Oh hew, A4 is…”

“440> 432.001”

Wait: WHAT? 432,001? THIS, IS… WRONG!!!

THIS THING SHOULD BE 432,000 FROM HERE, WHATS HAPPENING, I HEARD THE MUSIC SOUND WAS 432,000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 NOT 0,1 THIS IS MANDNESS WUTS FUC WUTS THIS SOMTHING IS WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONGGGG!!!

THIS.

ISN’T.

AIN’T.

RIGHT.

EITHER IT IS 432,00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 OR IT IS 432,0 AND THAT’S A 0 AND THAT’S ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!

IT CAN’T BE POSSIBLE MY “MUSICAL FREQUENCY” IS 432,00000001 AND 432,0 AT THE SAME TIME!!!

SOMETHING IS WRONG!!!

I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT IF MY THING IS 432 OR IF IT IS 432,01 THIS MADNESS!!! I MUST MAKE THIS RIGHT PERFECTLY HARMONICALLY RIGHT THIS IS MATH, BABE!!! PERFECTLY ***IN MATH!!! and I was immedieately PISSED with my instructions trying to find the PERFECT OF THE PERFECT OF THE PEEEEEEEEEEEERFECT HARMONICS (of math) that Nikolas Teslas and Hermes Trimegistro Of Ancient Greece has told me to do so!!! I COULDN’T ACCEPT THIS!!!

Then what hapned… THEN WHAT HPANED… then what HAPn@!!@!n3EEEED…

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAH

then What happneed…

I digged, digged, found ALL variations of MUSICAL HARMONICS between the notes… tried to find the MOST HARMONIC version of 001 and 000 at thje same time and say “Hmmm who looks more harmonious…”

Then I tried to look “Hmmm who looks more cooler”

Then I made the final test and made like the test to something like “pUt two music aside and test your emotions- which is better…”

All two are similar.

VERY similar.

BUT you prefer 000 so that’s what you pick OK.

Then what happens is after some time I continue that research and…

I find out that both where much more similar than I expected, I google it up the 432,001 hz things because I just get crazy and this is what I found:

https://www.calculator.net/percent-calculator.html?c3par1=440&c3par2=432&ctype=3&x=60&y=24#pctdifference

Something like this.

THEN,

i found OUT…

That the PERCENT CHANGE i should put on PITCH…

iS NOT

1,818

THAT NUMBER HAS NO MEANING at ALL…

Because its not 1,818 the EXACT pitch change of that…

Because t’s actually 18,181818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818818181818181818181881818181818181818188181818181818181818 BECAUSE THAT’S A DIZIMA PERIODICAA IN PORTUGUESSE AND THAT THING IS INFINITE, YOU GET IT???

SO IT’S NOT A FINITE 1,718

ITS A INFNITE

1,818

SO THE PERCENT CHANGE CALCULATOR IN AUDACITY FORUMS IS WRONG.

This is the thing I would like to say here but i’m NO MUSICAL TECHNICAN to make this claim.

Also, if this is true, it means that 99% of the 432 Hz music produced by here is wrong.

WRONG.

iT’S THE SAME AS 440 HZ

Except it’s just still BR!KEN

BRRRRR

I’m so pissed.

Anyway at least I just found the RIGHT number which I like… :333333

Now well i’d just like to confirm this still because STILL you guys are the musican tehcnicans here but i’m not so sure i’m still so right, lol xD

I mean I know i am e.e

But I wanted to confirm this and inform you guys, due to because, actually…

Maybe you guys need to know, that even your own calculator is rightly and rightful wrong.

*Ps: I noticed and made the research, and the RIGHT way to produce 432 Hz music is to produce it in something like “A> 440 432,001 And you MANUALLY set it to 432,00>0! That AUTOMATICALLY change the other numbers and values as well, even tho the “percent change” (which is WORTHLESS for this) still don’t changes. This is epic. I FOUND THE RIGHT WAY! YES! now you guys know it as well thankis <3  s2”

That’s a lot of words…

Your main concern is accurate conversion?

I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT IF MY THING IS 432 OR IF IT IS 432,01

Do you really think musical instruments are tuned that perfectly? Probably not. :stuck_out_tongue:

Do you think you can hear the difference? Definitely not!

Noting is perfect in the real-analog world, and in the digital world there is often some rounding. And digital is quantized from analog. i.e. With integers you only have whole numbers (no fractions or decimals) and even with floating-point there are limits to the resolution.

And the tuning on certain instruments tends to drift… Guitar players often tune their guitar every one or two songs. After the 1st song A isn’t 440 anymore and all of the strings will be off by different amounts and/or in different directions. (Pianos take longer to tune and they stay in-tune longer.)

The clock in your soundcard isn’t “perfect” either. Usually soundcards are “close enough” but some consumer soundcards are far-enough off that a musician with a properly-tuned instrument can’t play in-tune with the recording.

These things are useless IDK even what they mean, B#4 B#3

Those are musical notes with standard A=440Hz tuning. That’s A4… There is an A in every octave (at higher & lower frequencies). It’s for changing the key of the song (while sticking with traditional tuning). That won’t work with A=432Hz because all of the musical notes are at different frequencies.

the RIGHT way to produce 432 Hz music

The right way to produce music at A=432 is to re-tune the instruments before playing/recording.

That’s a lot of words…

Someone will correct me, but think that may be the longest post. Not the longest thread of posts, that honor goes to Ian in his Hollywood apartment off La Brea at a little over a year, but the longest single post.

Did we ever find out why we’re doing this conversion?

evil demonic unnatural frequency called 440

I see. [Writing that down].

Koz

But only if the original audio was tuned to A 440.0000000000000000000000000… (correct to infinite decimal places), which it isn’t.
Tuning an instrument is rarely accurate to better than +/- 1 cent.

And only if the clock in the D/A converter is running at exactly 44100.0000000000000… or 48000.0000000000000000 or 96000.0000000000000000000000… (correct to infinite decimal places), which it isn’t.
The crystal oscillator in a consumer grade D/A converter is much less accurate that in a “Grade 1” professional word clock (see below).

And only if the recording equipment was running at exactly the right speed, (correct to infinite decimal places), which it isn’t.

The Audio Engineering Society Standard AES11- 2003:

A Grade 1 clock has a long term accuracy of ±1 PPM. The frequency of a Grade 1 clock at 44.1 kHz will fall
between 44.0999559 and 44.1000441 kHz. At 96 kHz, ±1 PPM represents a range of 95.999904 to 96.000096 kHz.

Koz wrote:

Well it certainly must be the post containing the most ones and eights.

And on a more serious note (yes, pun intended), over and above what Steve wrote,
can anyone actually hear the difference between 440.00000 and say, 440.00018 Hz?
Or even 440 and 441.8 Hz? I’m willing to bet most can’t.

That’s my “2 cents” worth.
