Is there a way to get rid of clips and just go back to the way it was where everything is together. I know you can join them but I prefer not having them at all.
In a word, No. In Audacity 4 clips are the fundamental unit of audio.
Clips have been around since (at least) Audacity 2.0. So going back to “where everything is together” (no clips, just tracks), would mean going back to one of the 1.3 beta versions.
What is it about clips that you don’t like?
I’m neither agreeing nor disagreeing with @larrymagid, but I’m very (genuinely) interested to know the reasons.
Audacity has supported audio clips for a very long time, though their nature has changed considerably post Audacity 3, so Larry, please be as descriptive as possible. Workflow examples may help to make your case.
It isn’t possible to get rid of clips completely, but there may be workarounds to make them less annoying (once we know what annoys you about them
)
