Wow it seems like such a never ending learning curve. It’s funny how I can edit something and then listen to it at a later time and wonder ‘what the heck was I thinking’.
My dilemma is cheap recording equipment and possibly undue tenacity to think I can edit it out!
Here I go again: Yes, high pass filter but not too much! Currently I’m thinking slightly below the middle peaks, as recorded with a dynamic mic*.
So only needing high pass on my DR-05 recordings where I did not use an extension (dynamic mic), but used the built-in condensors which pick up a ton of low end.
Also, the DR’ has built in low cut which I will probably set to 80 hertz next time, if I record w/o the dynamic mic. It cuts at 40, 80, or 120 and 80 is usually around where I need the high pass, … hard lesson.
Other than that, to bring things down further in other areas I can use what ever, however, with the low end problem being THE big PROBLEM hopefully solved.
- “Line Up” is my song that came out good! And when I looked back on my notes and looked at the plot spectrums it was with the dynamic mic and little editing was needed, just basically manually lowering loud areas with GCom compressor and Audacity Limiter, not even touching parts of the song. And that’s the way I like it, as natural as possible.
