Is Smoothing working properly?

Hi folks
I’m having difficulty getting Smoothing working as described in Draw Tool - Audacity Manual
Can someone verify that it’s working properly?
When I press alt the brush appears but nothing happens when I click and drag samples as directed by text in the bottom status bar.

Nope, that makes no difference.

My icon is different to yours too.

I’m on Mac M1 RAM 16GB running macOS Sonoma v14.7, Audacity 3.7.0.

Works for me on an M1 Macbook Air, macOS 15.1.1, Audacity 3.7.0.

Hold down the option key to get the “brush” icon, then follow the instructions on the manual page. That’s what I did, since I’ve never used this function before.

I agree with the note in the manual that it is easier to use the Repair effect if the area to be repaired is less than 128 samples.

Hi @billw58 thanks for the reply.

I can now see it working.

The movement of the sample dots it much more subtle than I was expecting it to be, but now I can see that they are moving miniscule amounts.
