Is it possible to remove or quieten a certain sound in a song?

Hi, I have a song I like, but there is a particular sound that’s used throughout the song that I find grating and makes it hard for me to listen to. Is there a way I can remove this sound, or at least modify it to make it less uncomfortable? I’ve only used audacity to trim and fade songs so I don’t know if something like this is feasible.

This is the song in question: Desire Blue sky - Kanako Ito

The sound I mentioned is the rising high-pitched sound heard at 1:08, 1:28, 1:40 and about 10 times more after that.

The Envelope Tool can fade-down or fade-up a selection. And that’s the “trick”… To fade so there are no sudden jumps in volume, and to keep the end-points unaffected.

You might also try Spectral Editing.

It looks like the sound shows up pretty clearly on the spectrogram, and spectral delete can remove it without altering the song too much. Thanks, I think I can do this!
