Hi,
I’m using Mint 21.3 too with the AppImage of 3.7.4. I’ve found it OK for my needs but my use case may well be different from your own. If you revert to older versions (3.3.3 was really good IMHO) you have to clear out the settings left over from any previous install. There are numerous posts on this elsewhere.
My Plan B is to use Ocenaudio too, especially for the recording part of the process.
