I have learned how to get my iphone voice memos into itunes, but how can I open/import those files into audacity?

I’m going to assume you weren’t kidding that you’re on Windows. Click on the sound file and drag it to the desktop. Right-click > Open With > Audacity. You might be able to do that in one step from iTunes, but this is safer.

If Audacity refuses to open it, you might need to install the FFMpeg helper software if you don’t already have it.

Do you happen to know what kind of sound file it is?

MediaInfo should tell you.
