Installing programs not working on macbook pro

Hi Everyone,

Idk if anyones experiencing the same thing as me. I installed the new version of Audacity 3.4.2 with my MacBook Pro with macOS Sonoma 14.2.1. Im struggling to get the plugins it won’t let me install.

I go to ACX Check and this is what I get.

This analyzer was developed as an aid for audiobook producers. It displays a number of useful statistics about the selected audio, and compares them to the specifications published by ACX (an Amazon.com subsidiary).

ACX-Check.ny 4KB
Binary

This is what I get.

There is no application set to open the document “ACX-Check (1).ny”.

Once I try to go to Nyquist plugins its says,

Nyquist plugins

Audacity has built-in support for Nyquist effects on all operating systems. You can download additional Nyquist plugins, or create your own using the Nyquist programming language. Nyquist code can be conveniently tested using “Nyquist Prompt” under the Effect menu.

There is no link for me to go to to launch the plugins.

Hope you are able to help, I am so lost and at idol since I’m not able to go any further than I have.

Have a good day.
Eliza

Does this help?
https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/nyquist_plug_in_installer.html

thank you, i do appreciate this, yes i saw this but it doesn’t really help me. i need a video to follow because, i’ve installed macbook pro sonoma 14.3 and the new 3.2.1 audacity but after that nothing works and no link just to install.

The application name is wrong. The ACX-Check application file is called ACX-Check.ny. You may get the other name if you tried to download it or install it more than once.

Is your machine set to show you whole, correct filenames? Windows machines are set to hide filename extensions so as not to “confuse you”. So they may turn MySong.wav into MySong. That may be convenient if everything goes well, but if something goes wrong, it’s good to know what the real name is. Macs can be set to hide parts of the filename, too. It’s in Finder > Preferences > Advanced > [X] Show all filename extensions.

Is your Macbook Pro an upgrade to Sonoma? Did you buy the MBP new with Sonoma already on it?

Hello, Please Pretty Please, can you work on the macOS 14.3 with the audacity 3.4.2 and acx-check.ny and nyquist plugins. I have not been able to do anything. I can not go any further to install anything else. It says you have been working on this for over a year since, it has not been updated for 20 years. Mac needs some love because, nothing and I mean nothing works. It may work outstanding for Windows and thats great but I’m not a Windows user. There are so many bugs with this program for Mac users. I can not link any video so you can see the issues that arise. Have a wonderful day. Eliza
