Installing noise-repellent lv2 plug-in

(k)Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and Audacity 2.2.1

I was hoping to find a better noise reduction plug-in than the one in-built and on another forum noise-repellent was recommended.

I have download the binary noise-repellent-0.1.5-linux-amd64.zip from https://github.com/lucianodato/noise-repellent/releases and extracted giving me:

/Downloads/
nrepel.lv2/
manifest.ttl nrepel.so nrepel.ttl

I’m struggling to get this into the right place and have already now got a “phantom” entry in the Plug-in manager of noise-repellent pointing to the https://github directory which I can remove.

How do I install lv2 plug-ins?

If there is a better suggestion then I’ll be happy to hear it. I’ve just digitised as Audacity projects all my Vinyl, Cassettes and Reel to Reel and am in the process of outputting as mp3. Some noisy LPs, there will be some noisy tapes. This is all home stuff - not studio.

I’d recommend “Gnome Wave Cleaner” (GWC). It is available from the main Ubuntu repository as “gwc”.
Be sure to read the documentation: http://gwc.sourceforge.net/
