Installing a previous version of Audacity

Is it possible to download an earlier version of Audacity?
I’ve been using Audacity for many years and was very pleased with it as using it was a breeze, but now after recent updates it’s gotten too complicated for me to do the things that were once simple and uncomplicated. Like the limiter, reverb and delay. I can no longer get the limiter to do basic limiting to even out the sound, and the reverb has nine count’em nine slider adjustments are you kidding me. My guess is the vast majority of us who use Audacity are not engineers with masters or doctors degrees. Anyway, I’d like to download an earlier less complicated version of Audacity if possible.

Short answer: yes

Long answer:
Go to the website www.audacityteam.org
Look for the word “Downloads” at the very top
Click on it
Find the text “Older versions of Audacity”
Click on the link text “Download older versions from Fosshub”
Select the desired version for your system and click on that link

Yes, you can download an earlier version of Audacity from their official website or trusted sources like FossHub or GitHub. Just be cautious about security risks with older versions. Let me know if you need help finding a specific version!

The “official” download location for older versions of Audacity is:

FossHub, who were our “trusted distribution partners” for many years before Muse Group took over, host both the current release version (Audacity download latest version), and older versions (Old Audacity versions download) going all the way back to version 2.0.

The old “legacy” limiter is still on the effect menu … Legacy Limiter - Audacity Manual

It has factory presets …

and now can be adjusted in realtime.

Thanks for all the responses/tips everyone, it’s much appreaciated.
