i am trying to find out if it is possible to install audacity to a drive other than my c drive. and if so, how would i do this?
Sure. Just run the installer, and select the location that you want during the installation.
However, as you appear to be a novice Windows user, I would highly recommend installing in the default location so as to avoid future problems that you may struggle to resolve.
