Input "What U Hear" not being captured

Hi and thanks in advance.

I have used the 1.3 version before with no issues. Installed newest version 2.0.3 (with .exe installer) on Windows 7 machine (Version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1). I am trying to capture some sounds from the internet but when I click record no capture is shown (flat green line; nothing on indicators on top right). I have logged off and logged on, then rebooted and logged in again with no change. I can hear audio being played from internet sites, VLC, Windows Media player just fine. (Full tech info below)

~Thanks Thomas

Win7 has special provisions to recognize “Stereo-Mix,” It’s not easy and automatic like earlier Windows systems.

Hi:
Thanks for getting back to mo. Unfortunately…that link doesn’t go to the correct link for trying to enable “Stereo-Mix”. I looked further and found the instructions elsewhere for displaying/enabling “Stereo-Mix” and that doesn’t apply to my audio card.

In the past…“What U Hear” worked just fine under Windows 7 (it worked previously on this machine with this OS) for capturing audio. Since 1.3 worked before but I upgraded to the latest version of your software I decided to go out to Creative Labs and download their newest audio driver and that seemed to fix the issue.

Thank you so much for your efforts and time though. It is great to see this level of response in a forum!

That link contains a link that goes to the Tutorial on recording computer playback Audacity Manual

which does say how to enable stereo mix in the Windows control panel for sound.

As that tutorial says, updating the drivers of your sound device - whether it’s a motherboard device or PCI or USB device - is one of the important things to try.

Thanks for letting us know it was fixed.
