Importing audio ffmpeg libraries not being read.

Hi,

I’m just editing some audio at the moment and really can’t re-record anything. At parts the audio is too loud and goes into the red part of the playback meter. And when it hits the red all the words get a horrible staticy sound to them.

Is there an effect to put on that bit of audio reduce this effect? I’ve tried noise reduction and a few others with them just making it quieter, and not taking away the loud staticy sound at the end.

Thanks for any help.

What are you trying to record (or “re-record”)? …Audio playing on your computer? The microphone built into your laptop? From a USB turntable?

FFmpeg is not related to recording and importing is not recording.

At parts the audio is too loud and goes into the red part of the playback meter.

If the audio is clipped (distorted) you can’t fix that.

But red actually means potential clipping and if it sounds OK with the playback volume turned-down you can permanently turn-down the volume of the file with the Amplify Effect (set to a negative value for attenuation) or the Normalize effect.

Note that if the audio is clipped using the Amplify effect to bring-down the volume will make the red clipping indication go-away but it won’t fix the distortion.

Why have you given your post a title that is totally unrelated to your question?
