Import MKA and export also MKA

Good morning,

I imported MKA audio, then made some cuts and now I would like to save the final result also in MKA format.

Is it possible ?

I see only MP3, WAV and so on, but no MKA.

Best regards,

Sir Caralot

An MKA file is a audio file saved in the Matroska multimedia container format. It supports several types of audio compression algorithms, including MP3, AAC, and Vorbis. MKA files are typically used for storing voice recordings and songs.
To export as MKA, use the “Custom FFmpeg Export” and select the options that you require. Note that not all combinations are valid. See: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/custom_ffmpeg_export_options.html

Understand, thank you very much.

If I would import MKA file and export in other format, what is the best format to export ?

Is it MP3 or WAV ?

Or how can I find out know in which format was the original audio, when it is in the movie audio ?

For best sound quality, export as WAV.
If you need a smaller file and are happy to compromise on sound quality, then you could use MP3 or OGG.

However, note that re-encoding in the original format will probably reduce the sound quality (WAV, AIFF and FLAC are “lossless” formats that do not significantly affect the sound quality. Of these, WAV is the most widely supported.)
