I am trying to download an old version but it does not match what i know

I installed win 11 and had to download latest version of audacity, but I don’t like the new layout or look, i wan to go back to an old version.

This video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vi36SA9jFU4
show the version look that i last used - ver 2.4.2 has the look, but when I download and install 2.4.2 it does not look like this.

How do i get the version with the look in the video?

What is different / what are you missing, compared to version 3.6.4?

You can activate/deactivate and arrange the tools according to your wish.

  1. Ensure that all versions of Audacity are uninstalled from your system.
  2. Manually delete Audacity’s Preferences
  3. Download Audacity 2.4.2 from Old Audacity versions download
  4. Run the installer.

I tried doing this, but it comes out with rounded circle button version, not the square button version, this happens on all the older versions.

Check in “Help menu > About Audacity”
If that says Audacity 2.4.2, then check the Theme setting in Preferences.

where abouts i looked under preferences and see no title for themes

Edit menu > Preferences > Interface

That can happen if the source isn’t official or the versioning changed over time. I’d double-check the release notes or find the file from the developer’s official archive.

STEVE has helped me fix the issue I was having. i never new you could change the appearance.
