Hello,
I used to “Truncate silence” effect to remove silence but it only remove silence in single track. I have a lot of track, so I cannot remove silence manually. When I choose all track (ctrl + A) and use “truncate silence”, it does nothing.
So how to solve this problem ? Thank you very much !
Please don’t forget to give us your Audacity version when asking for help (all three numbers, see the pink panel at the top of the page).
Unfortunately Truncate Silence was not designed for the use case of running on multiple tracks one at a time, and did not make that clear. It was designed to treat multiple tracks as a “mix”, so it only removes silence where all tracks are silent.
Truncate Silence in the next 2.1.3 release of Audacity is expected to include a “Truncate tracks independently” checkbox that you enable when you want to treat the tracks one at a time and not as a mix. If you want to try this out now, please download the latest 2.1.3-alpha from the top of gaclrecords.org.uk. Let us know if you try that.
By the way, there is a workaround in 2.1.2 which is to Edit > Select All, Tracks > Align Tracks > Align End to End, Edit > Select All again, then apply the effect. When you export, the leading silence resulting from the align will be disregarded.
