Sorry if this has been asked SOO many times. I just can’t find a solution anywhere else.
I’m using Audacity 2.0.2 on Windows XP. I am 15 years old and female.
I was wanting to make a voicebank for a singing program called UTAU, but my normal voice is too mature for my liking. So I decided to create a child voice, like a little girl around the age of 8-9 (: But sadly, just changing the pitch higher only makes you sound like a chipmunk. I also know that changing how you speak and say certain sentences helps, but I’m only recording monotone sounds (ex. ka, ki, ku, ke, ko).
If there are any plugins or tips you can give me, or even different softwares (not any that you have to buy) that would greatly be appreciated. Thanks for reading!
Questions that start “Make me sound like…” are usually hopeless. Most of the time the best you can do is acting. Bart Simpson’s voice is a woman acting like Bart Simpson. The Audacity pitch shifting tools are never appropriate because they shift everything, even parts of the vocal performance that should not be affected.
You can use G200KG Rovee or a similar plug-in to shift the male formants to female ones.
In order to sound like a girl, you have to firstly sing like a woman (how poetic…)
I’m not worth a penny when it comes to singing but anyways, here’s an example:
